Mami To Five

Life: The good, the bad and the ugly bits!

Review ~ Sassy Bloom Box

A little while ago I was asked to review a Sassy Bloom Box. Now I had heard of these fantastic little boxes and had also seen some reviews so I was absolutely over the moon to be given this opportunity.

If you don’t know what a Sassy Bloom box is, in basic terms it is a subscription box service. But in reality it feels a little bit like Christmas once a month! When you sign up on the website, which can be for a one box off or a subscription, you fill in your child’s details such as age, gender and name. When your box arrives all the items inside have been chosen to be perfect for your child’s age and gender.

You can also get these lovely boxes tailored for those ladies in their 3rd trimester. So if you have a friend who is heavily pregnant (or you just want to spoil yourself!) you can also get a box with lots of goodies in. I think this would be an ideal leaving gift for a work colleague or if your child’s teacher were to go off on maternity leave. You would only need roughly £1 from each child’s parents and you have a fantastic leaving gift!

Sadly the day before our box arrived O had been struck down with a nasty case of gastroenteritis. I did have a quick peek inside (because I’m nosey) but I didn’t open it! He was too poorly to have enjoyed any of the contents and because I wanted to do an unboxing video and I didn’t think a pale, vomiting child would have made for great viewing!

I had to wait for ages until O was anywhere near being himself again but after weeks of me peeking under the tissue paper we finally had a little boy who although still wasn’t right was up to the important job of opening his special box! And apart from a little frustration and imapatience in the beginning I think he did a grand job, although its safe to say E’s videoing skills need a bit of practice and I won’t make a career of vlogging anytime soon!

If you were to buy the box as a one off it would cost you £29. The most popular subscription is for 6 months, this takes the price of each box down to £24.65 and an annual subscription is £22.15. These may sound like quite steep prices but when you consider the fact that each box has a minimum value of £40, and there is free delivery, you are actually making a huge saving. Plus you don’t have to get out of your pyjamas and go out shopping 😉

The Contents

In our box we had:

B. Elemenosqueeze  Alphabet Blocks

B elemenosqueeze alaphabet blocks

O adores these blocks! My older kids have dubbed them the ‘posh blocks’ as they have animals like quail and lobster amongst all the usual elephant and mice etc. I have to admit that my favourite is this unicorn one:

What does the unicorn say?

Sandwich cutters:

grubs up!

We’ve used these a few times now but O actually enjoys his crusts so he eats those too! I do like the fact that they are quite large so there is minimal waste. We have also used these on wraps and although they are a little tougher to cut through it is possible.

Sleep Tight Teddy Book:

The face looks sweeter in real life!

O enjoys sitting by himself “reading”. We have a few of these finger puppet books and he likes doing it himself. The face on the bear isn’t too big so he doesn’t struggle like with some of the others we own.

Tambourine I really wanted to get an action shot with this but O really does go to town with it and all the images came out completely blurred so I’m afraid you will have to make do with this boring one instead!:

Frisbee anyone?

And there was also a little something for Mami!

Urban Veda Purifying Exfoliating Facial Polish:

This stuff smells lovely!

This stuff smells lovely and really does get your face feeling fresh and smooth. It is Neem that has been infused with Wild Mint, Eucalyptus and Witch Hazel so all the good things for cleaning and caring for your skin. There were two 20ml tubes in the box.

This may not seem like many items, but when you consider the RRP of the blocks alone is £24.99 this does put things into perspective a bit more

In Conclusion

I think that Sassy Bloom is a brilliant idea, in theory. I love the fact that you get these boxes appear at your door once a month and you know that everything inside is suitable for your child and its all a nice surprise. But on the other hand that surprise is the exact reason I am put off by it a little. What if (and this is a big huge what if!) you get all excited about receiving your Sassy Bloom box, only to find that you already own every item inside? That would be a lot of money down the drain!

We were sent this box by Sassy Bloom for the purposes of this review, however, all thoughts and opinions are honest and my own. Sassy Bloom were also nice enough to give me a referral code giving you all the opportunity of trying out your own boxes with a £10 discount off your first! You can either click on the banner in my sidebar, or go directly to their site and use the code: MAMI2FIV

Have you ever had a Sassy Bloom box? If not, do you think this is something you would like to have?
