My Captured Moment ~ Special Care Baby

April 30, 2015

scbu baby

This photo was taken in  the Special Care Baby Unit when O was two days old. He had come on in leaps and bounds since his rocky start and moved from the ICU straight into the nursery, totally bypassing the HDU where he was expected to go, and was well on his way to joining me over on the maternity ward.

I hadn’t actually seen this photo before today. My laptop is still away being fixed so I’ve been using my mums old one (while trying to fix and debug it) and found this while moving some photos to dropbox.

I love looking back at photos of my kids that I haven’t seen before, especially newborn ones. But I have to be honest, this photo also shocked me a little. You see I’d been quite poorly during the last few weeks of my pregnancy and it really does show here. I just cannot get over how gaunt my face was!

What a lovely surprise to have found this photo. You can see love and pride all over your face even if you were getting over illness.

It can be a surprise to see ourselves at times like this. I remember seeing a photo of me after the birth complications of my first baby and was horrified. You do look worn out but it is still a lovely picture. The look on your face is wonderful.

I love how you are looking at him in this photo, such love and emotion. My son was premature and I still find it tough to look at the photos but I’m glad we have them if that makes any sense!?

All of my babies spent time in NICU and they are such exhausting days. But it is lovely to look back as it makes you realise how far they have come on. Lovely picture x #mycapturedmoment
