A few weeks ago I was invited along to a bloggy event in the Hotter Store in Carmarthen. It was a first for the blogging world, as no other company, at least that I know of, has ever held an event so far west in South Wales! I have to be honest that I was beyond excited to be invited and jumped at the chance.
You see, earlier in the year I attended Blog On Cymru which was held in the Sherman Theater in Cardiff and Hotter happened to be one of the brands with a stand there. They had a small selection of shoes on display and I completely fell in love with this particular pair:
They are the Quake shoes (in dark aqua). Priced at £70, I have to admit that they are outside of my usual budget for shoes for myself, so you can imagine how happy I was to possibly get the chance to bring a pair home!
My Hotter Moment
Of course, just because I liked the look of these shoes that didn’t mean I was going to actually like them on my feet! How many of us fall in love with shoes or an item of clothing only to find that we never wear them because they are ‘not quite right’ when you actually try them on?
I’m sure you can appreciate my relief that as soon as I slipped them on my feet I knew I had had my ‘Hotter Moment’. I did try on a couple of other pairs but kept going back to the Quake. The best thing for me was that they come in size 4 1/2. Usually I’m struggling to either squeeze into a four or slip around in a five so it was a real treat to have a perfectly fitting pair of shoes.
Since bringing them home I have worn the shoes pretty much every single day. I even committed the faux pas of wearing them with socks on the colder days, FYI purple and pink stripes go quite well ;)!
They have certainly been through the ringer in the last couple of weeks. We have had a busy half term as well as the usual running around that accompanies being the mother of five. They are extremely comfortable to drive in due to the flexible soles and I have literally walked miles in them. The cutouts make them very cool on the feet and the shape is ideal for the warmer weather.
I was a little concerned that the Nubuck outer would get grubby, but I sprayed liberally with the protection spray and they have stood up pretty well, even after being out on long walks where old trainers would probably have been more appropriate. A good brush down and they look as good as new. I have a feeling that these shoes will look great for a very long time.
Hotter’s Comfort Concept
Hotter is a brand that you may relate more to the older generation than a fashionable brand. But actually, when you walk into one of their stores, they are filled with many wonderful designs that would look great on anyone’s feet! From walking boots and trainers to wedges and fashionable boots. One of the main points to make about Hotter shoes is how comfortable they are. They are REALLY comfortable. I guess, having started out as a slipper manufacturers has helped them understand that our feet are happiest when they are comfy.
But instead of working from the inside out, creating a not so great shoe around the comfortable bits, Hotter has concentrated on the eye catching design first and then hidden the comfort inside with cushioning, bubble filled soles that feel like your walking on air and wiggle room for toes (have you heard of barefoot baby shoes? Well their like that for adults).
If you haven’t tried a pair of Hotter shoes yet, I really recommend you give them a try. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised!
