Freshening up our Bedroom, For less than £100

July 3, 2015

As you may know we are currently in the middle of a big shake up in our house. We’ve had our attic done and started work in the kids bedrooms as well as painted and carpeted our landing and stairs. It is taking us much longer to complete than we had originally hoped, purely because everything costs so much money!

One of the rooms that was started two years ago, was our bedroom. Not much needed doing to it really apart from a clear out, a lick of paint (it used to be the girls room so was bright pink!) and a new bed as we were sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

The room is looking a little tired now, but hopefully with just a small amount of cash we can spruce it up and turn it back into a real grown up bedroom again. Our rooms are all quite small and we were advised not to paint them dark as it will make them feel even smaller, but actually we have found that the darker the room, the better everyone sleeps, so far now at least we are sticking to it!

Here are some of things I want to upgrade in our room, all for less than £100:

Freshening up our bedroom

If you would like to see the details of all these items you can view them on my Amazon wishlist HERE.

For starters, our bedding is falling apart, I’m thinking of replacing them with this lovely purple bedding set, which is only £8.95 for a kingsize set on Amazon!

Once upon a time, I had a lovely collection of scatter cushions. They varied from massive ones, right down to teeny tiny ones. Over the years they have been stolen by the kids repurposed, or fallen apart. These Silver, purple and black ones would be a great start to my new collection. They cost between £2.25-£4.99 each.

Our curtains have never quite matched, but were, good enough at the time(for a secondhand pair). Again from Amazon, this lovely set are only £24.99.

Eventually I would also like to get something pretty up on the wall, this 4 piece canvas set would look lovely above our bed and would brighten the room up a lot. This particular one costs just shy of £35 but it is HUGE!

The cot needs to go as it is currently a glorified storage box. O hasn’t been in it in months, lets be honest he never really slept in it anyway!

But with it gone, it means we can finally have a real set of bedside cabinets. Our room is so small, this is something we haven’t been able to have at all up until now. We won’t be able to afford new (hence no picture), but I’ve been scouring the charity shops for an old wooden pair that I can paint following these directions from the lovely Caro who blogs over at The Twinkle Diaries.

Even if I bought the canvas now, hopefully I should still be able to pick up a pair of cabinets and a tin of paint with the £23.87 I have left!

If you had the chance, what would you upgrade in your home?

I think it is so great to see what you can achieve on a budget and you have found such great bargains there and I love the idea of doing a few bits yourself too, the bedside table idea is brilliant! Hope you manage to spruce it up for yourselves xx

I couldn’t believe how reasonable the bedding was. Kingsize ones are normally really expensive! xxx
